RENE VELEZ is a professional financial manager as well
as a business operations administrator with more than 20 years of
experience. His involvement with numerous start ups and with developing
business ventures has lead him to become very operations oriented in his
approach towards developing solutions to everyday business.
Travel Industry & Hotel
Operations
From 1980
to 1984 RENE VELEZ worked within the growing travel and cruise line
industry in South Florida. Managing Group Tours and performing the
function of Housing Coordinator, he learned the art of transportation and
logistics while moving and housing over 5,000 passengers on any given
weekend. By 1987 after completing his first business degree RENE VELEZ was
involved in managing the accounting functions for a wholesale travel
agency and later was installing accounting systems for large corporate
travel agencies.
Real Estate Management &
Development
From 1988
until the year 2002 RENE VELEZ worked within the real estate industry.
During his tenure he worked in the capacity of Corporate Controller,
Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. RENE VELEZ was
responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s accounting,
taxation, cash management and banking, audit, systems development, human
resource, risk management and a host of other operational functions. Over
many years the overlap among varying functional areas forged a strong
operations management mind set towards achieving results.
Financing
techniques involved, foreign investment capital, conventional debt and
equity structures, bond financed and tax credit deals as well as private
placements. Investors in these real estate deals were REIT’s, high net
worth individuals, and institutional investors such as life insurance
companies and pension funds. On more than one occasion the owner of real
estate was a governmental agency of a city.

During his
tenure within the real estate industry RENE VELEZ worked for national real
estate management and development companies as well a smaller regional
organizations. These organizations often had many subsidiaries which
included employee leasing companies, construction and general contractor
companies, carpet companies, mortgage lending businesses, real estate
brokerage and leasing companies, law firm practice etc.
Accounting, Tax and
Consulting
Commencing in the year 2000, while holding various financial management
positions, RENE VELEZ launched his Accounting, Tax & Consulting practice.
As a value added service towards the traditional accounting services, RENE
VELEZ offers “Fractional Chief Financial Officer” services to small and
medium sized companies. This hands on service gives access to professional
financial management at a fraction of the full cost of a seasoned
executive. Today the practice clients includes a manufacturing company,
wholesale distributor, media relations and advertising company, law
practice, real estate and development companies, general contractors and
other service companies as well as individuals with accounting, tax and
consulting needs.
Academic and Professional
Achievements
RENE
VELEZ is a graduate of Florida International
University where he earned two degrees in, Finance and Accounting,
and is a Florida Licensed Mortgage Broker. He holds a Georgia and
Florida professional
designation as a Certified Public Accountant which allows him to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
He is an Alumni of Leadership Miami, through the Greater Miami
Chamber of Commerce. In addition he is a
Federal Aviation Administration, Certified Private Pilot. He is
also owner of Cape Florida Mortgage, LLC , a Florida Mortgage
Brokerage Business.
